3/22/18:
Happy Spring!

Well, we're past the equinox now, but it's been chilly and rainy here this week. I think we've gotten more precipitation in the first part of March than in all of January and February together. On the 21st, as storms were blowing our trees around and cats were running into the house all soggy and cranky, Steve said, “Nice of winter to finally show up. In spring.”

My plans to get stuff done out in the yard are on hold until I get another good stretch of sunny hours, perhaps sometime this coming weekend. While I could've done a bit of gardening last Sunday afternoon, I was feeling lazy. So I merely picked dandelions out of the lawn and watered a few plants that don't get rained on because they're under the porch. Then I took a lot of pictures.

I realize that some people who read these posts live in areas of the world more solidly in the grip of winter, so their gardening efforts at the moment are about research, planning and seed shopping. I hope that my images of flowers and greenery in our temperate climate won't make anyone annoyed or envious, but instead are inspiring, for wherever and whenever warm-weather gardening adventures will happen.

The week's blog post is more of a photo essay this time, but I plan to report on seedling progress, fertilizer experiments, soil preparation, and new discoveries before too long.
