Mew! 02/01/03
You know sometimes, there's just not much to say. Or I have too much to say, but can't express it. And a good "Meow" is just the thing. It can mean "Hi! what's up?" or "I love you", or "I'm kinda bored, nothing much on my mind, how 'bout you?"
For the other felines around my house, there are many variations on the basic meow. To me, the "I want to go outside" mew sounds just like the "Feed me NOW" cry, but at times (Baliey cat in particular) meow sentences are delivered in the form of long pronouncements: "Mrrr Prrk Frrow! Ahk, Eert, Mewr!" I have yet to decipher these.
Today I have watered the plants outside (outdoors wearing shorts in February! Yess!) I slept in til noon, read a bit of my current book (Wraiths of Time, Andre Norton) and kept up with my on-line correspondence. It is so easy to browse websites lazily, then look at the clock and realize I have been sitting at the computer for 4 hours. Yikes.
I am going out for dinner, Karl’s birthday celebration. Should be a great time. I have been volunteered to drive another friend up to the restaurant. Having passengers in my car makes me nervous, so does driving the curvy narrow roads up in the hills where we are headed. I am neither a good driver nor good at making conversation, trying to do both at the same time will take a lot of concentration.
Well, time to go get ready. Hey, maybe I can manage to do my hair sort of fancy without burning myself on the curling iron or dropping the hair dryer in the litterbox this time. Whee.
