The little things that make life good. 04/06/03

It is a sunny afternoon, blue sky and big white clouds. I should be outside watering the plants and planting seeds right now. Instead I am websurfing and munching fresh-baked cinnamon rolls.

Since the car is broken down again I've been taking the bus or walking everywhere. A long walk is about the only form of exercise that does not easily bore me or get me all exhausted after only 15 minutes of exertion. But I am trying to do a bit of dancing and toning exercises too, since walking is great for the calf muscles and decent for cardiovascular but does nothing to firm up the shape of my thighs, butt, and upper arms. Last weekend we were housesitting again, and Saturday was a great day. Shopping at an upscale mall, and at the "ghetto" mall, which has a good Hello Kitty store. I bought Godiva chocolates, a Hello Kitty comb, Chococat socks and Nine West socks. It was not a day for big spending but for windowshopping.

It is a rare boyfriend who will not only go inside the Hello Kitty store, but actually SUGGEST bringing me there as an idea of a fun thing to do on a weekend. At times he will put up with a lot, just to bring me happiness. I do try to be just as considerate and thoughtful myself but I think he is better at it.

We had dinner at The Olive Garden that night. Lasagna, chicken parmesan, fettuccini, stuffed mushrooms, etc... The wine was really good, too.

This current weekend we walked downtown Saturday, browsed thru shops looking at jewelry and books, ate a heavy lunch of fried food and rode the bus back home. Today I bought groceries, baked, did laundry and other useful stuff, interspersed with fun stuff like writing here and taking pictures of the cats.

Next weekend is an SCA event, the first we will be at for a long time. Could be fun. I didn't mind not going to events as much as I thought I would. We got a bit burnt-out on it... Often it is like this: "Hurryup, get everything ready, pack drive unpack, set-up, sleep on hard ground, getupearly getinarmor/garb, stand around in hot sun, hurryup getlunch together eat, sitaroundtent bored, where are the merchants?, noshopping, sun hurryup and set, why didn't our friends come?, drink party dance, too tired goback to tent early pass-out, getupmorning everyone pack leave drivehome unpack, OhGod, it's good to be home."
